COOMER, Patricia Lisby, 69, of New Salisbury, IN, died March 26, 2013 in the care of Hosparus of Louisville, following treatment for acute myeloid leukemia.
Pat was born on May 2, 1943 to James Elmo and Lucille Sea Lisby who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, James Coomer, and by her brother, Jim Lisby of London, KY. Also left behind is Aslan, her Pomeranian, and many friends, neighbors and relatives who will miss her.
Pat grew up in Elizabethtown, KY, and then moved, with her family, to Louisville, KY following graduation from Elizabethtown High School in 1961. After several years in commercial sales and dental assisting, she became a Registered Nurse, graduating from Jefferson Community College School of Nursing in 1977. Pat was a compassionate and dedicated nurse in various clinical settings before focusing her career in post anesthesia nursing. She retired from New Albany Surgery Center in 1993.
Pat and her husband, Jim, have enjoyed living in Southern Indiana where they are fond of gardening, bird watching and feeding deer and other wildlife that frequent the woods around their home. Pat loved all living things, especially dogs, and has rescued many over the years. Pat’s quick wit made for a unique sense of humor, her attention to detail made her an excellent nurse and her altruism left this earth a better place.
Visitation with the family will be held at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway on Saturday from 12 noon to 4pm. A memorial service celebrating Pat’s life will be at 4pm at the funeral home, with Rev. Mike Powell officiating. Cremation was chosen.
