WORCESTER- Edwin Allan (Gus) Gustavson, 73, of Worcester died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in U-Mass Hospital Worcester MA of illness. He was born September 16, 1930, the son of Edwin Emmanuel Gustavson and Margaret (Johnson) Gustavson, Swedish immigrants to Worcester where he lived all his life. He is survived by his wife Shirley Elaine (Osterholm) Gustavson. They were married 46 years.
He leaves two children. A Daughter Karla Gustavson-Shields and a Son S. Allan Gustavson. He also leaves a son in-law Daniel C. Shields, Husband of Karla. He also leaves two grand children Luke and Brian as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his Brother Arthur William (Bill) Gustavson in 2002. He was educated at North High School Worcester and Clark University. He then became a dedicated life-long School Teacher in the Worcester Public Schools. Gus was a life-long member of the Worcester Musicians Association, Local 146 and played as a principal member of the Townsmen for many decades throughout the New England Area. Gus was also a professional Ski Instructor at Pine Ridge Ski Area and Watchusett Mountain. Gus also enjoyed fishing, jogging, hiking, and mountain climbing with friends at his camp in New Hampshire.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31st in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Zero Freeland St. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, July 30th from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral Home.
