Virdean “Dena” Cox Barton, Age 83, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at her home in Oakland, MS. She was born June 13, 1929 in Caraway, AR to the late Ben Allen and Catherine Music Cox. Dena was a member of Eastern Star, and was an active member of Ford’s Well Church of Christ where she served faithfully as church secretary. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, making crafts, and sewing.
Visitation is planned for Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2013 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Billy Sasser officiating.
Dena is survived by her daughter, Sheila Wagner (David) of Somerville, TN; two sons, Ben Barton of Collierville, TN and Eddie Barton (Pam) of Cape Girardeau, MO; two sisters, Sammie Malone of Mesa, AZ and Mary Jane Wiggs of Houston, MS; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Roy” Barton, Jr. and her son Lloyd Allen Chism.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Ford’s Well Church of Christ, 1070 CR 41, Oakland, MS 38948-2846.
