Obituary

Worcester – David R. Stidham, 65, died unexpectedly on March 24, 2013, at Saint Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill. He leaves his wife of 23 years, Esther (Delva) Stidham; three sons and three daughters, Jennifer Stidham, Matthew Stidham, and Samuel Stidham, all of Tennessee, and Lina Stidham, David D. Stidham, and Ruth Stidham, all of Worcester; six sisters, Mary Jo White, Karen Scott, Judy Wright, Suzanne Brooks, Becky Bell, and Terri Lane; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

David was born in Quincy, Illinois, son of Eileen M. (Wilson) and Omer Edwin “Jack” Stidham. He held a Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee. David retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a park manager at Buffumville Lake in Charlton, MA. He was an Eagle Scout, Boy Scout troop leader, and was an avid disc golfer. He dedicated much of his life to research of the Stidham family and helped publish several volumes of family history alongside his father. Above all, he was a humanitarian who enjoyed helping people - especially the people of Haiti.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Thursday, March 28, from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester, Friday, March 29, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Worcester.
