Jennie E. (Contiguglia) Bernat, a life-long Medford resident, died peacefully at home on Monday morning in the company of her loving family. She was 88.
Mrs. Bernat was raised in Medford the daughter of the late Domenic and Louise (Staffieri) Contiguglia. In her younger years, she worked as a secretary at Hood Milk. She was active at St James Parish in the years before its closure. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Jennie was happiest with her family and many friends.
The beloved wife of John Bernat, she was a devoted mother to Stephen Bernat and his wife Diane, David Bernat and his wife Katherine, Linda Zuckerman and her husband Kenneth, Karen Frost and her husband John. She leaves her loving grandchildren: Stephen Jr., Natalie, David Jr., Gary, John, Michael, Lauren, Alix, Lindsey, Paige, Ryan and Paul. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Sophia, Anna, Victoria and Zachery.
Family and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday morning at 10 and join in a prayer service in the funeral home at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial in the family plot at Oak Grove Cemetery.
