Mary T. (Foley) Cleveland, 87, of New Bedford died July 28, 2004 at home after a long courageous battle against lung cancer surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late Frank H. Cleveland, former Deputy Chief of the New Bedford Fire Department.
Born in Boston, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Cooney) Foley, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Cleveland was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church and a 1935 graduate of New Bedford High School.
She was a devoted mother and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her children brought her the greatest joy in life and will be truly missed by her sons and daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Pelletier, and her husband Paul, of Assonet; 3 sons, Bradford Cleveland of Acushnet, John Cleveland, and his wife Janice, of Freetown, and Gregory Cleveland, and his wife Holly, of Jacksonville, FL; 3 brothers, John Foley, and his wife Louella, of Ft. Pierce, FL, James Foley of New Bedford, and Ronald Foley, and his wife Barbara, of Fairhaven; 8 grandchildren, Maggie Cleveland, Timothy Cleveland, Peter Cleveland, Michelle Blanchette, Heather Cleveland, Becky Cleveland, Breanne Prando and Thomas Pelletier; and 4 great-grandchildren, Jaidyn, Kennedy, Summer and Ryan; several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Genevieve Foley, Thomas Foley, Stanley Foley and Florence Hoffman.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordSaturday, July 31st at 8 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Friday, July 30th from 5-8 PM.
Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
