Virginia A. "Ginny" (Bauer) Calt, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose after a short illness. She was 97 years old.
Virginia was born in Wakefield on November 7, 1915, a daughter of the late Dr. George M. Bauer and Agnes T. (Cashman) Bauer. She grew up in Wakefield where she attended Wakefield Public Schools and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1933. Virginia furthered her education at Salem Normal now Salem State University and Boston University where she recieved her Bachelor of Science Degree in Teaching. Virginia has been a homemaker most of her adult life caring for her husband and 2 children. Virginia was a founding member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church Women's Guild and was very dedicated and involved with the activities of the church. She enjoyed reading and traveling to Europe, Canada and around the United States. Virginia was a very caring and compassionate person who donated to Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, St. Anthony's Shrine and The Visiting Nurses Association. She enjoyed her friendships with many and was always thoughtful to many with a personal gesture.
Virginia is the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Thomas J. Calt. She is the devoted and loving mother of Barbara Calt-Dooley and her husband Richard of Windham, New Hampshire and James L. Calt of Wakefield.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Virginia's Funeral on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Wakefield/Melrose line followed by her Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 A.M. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
