Worcester: Marion A. (Magnuson) Briggs, 83, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 65 years, Robert E. Briggs; 4 sons- Robert E. and his wife Nancy Briggs, Deacon Roy F. and his wife Denise Briggs, Donald S. and his wife Susan Briggs, David and his wife Colleen Briggs; 1 daughter- Carol and her husband Michael Cohen; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother Willis Magnuson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Warren Briggs, a daughter Patricia Brandli and 4 brothers -Roy, Warren, Francis, and Paul Magnuson.
Marion was born in Worcester, daughter of Roy and Edna (Talbot) Magnuson. In addition to raising her family, she worked in healthcare at Hahnemann Hospital, as a school crossing guard, and a cashier at Brattle St. Market. She was a member of St. George's Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the staff at the Odd Fellows Home for all their compassionate care.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 12:00 noon in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
