HENRY J. "BUDDY" MAGNER, JR. of Pembroke, formerly of Hingham and Scituate, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, March 18th, 2013 at the age of 77.
Buddy was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War serving on the Powhatan and for over 35 years was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service, serving the majority of his career in Hingham, retiring in 1992 from the South Postal Annex. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, boating, drawing, reading and woodworking.
He was the beloved husband of Betty A. (Davenport) Magner and devoted father of Joe Magner of Florida, Anne Tierney and her husband Mark of Kingston, Jackie Horan and her husband Chris of Texas and Karen Tenore and her husband Rich, PPD of Pembroke. Son of the late Henry J. and Mary C. (Curtin) Magner of Hingham. Brother of Anne Magner of Chelsea and the late Mary Ruscio and Eddie Magner. Grandfather of Joey, Kevin, Alex and Richie. Also survived by 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
He was an amazing father, grandfather and was proud of all his family and many friends. The Magner family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Kevin McBride for his care of Buddy.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 22nd at 10 AM at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square. Interment with military honors to follow at St. Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory would be appreciated to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St., 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
