Obituary


SPRINGFIELD – June D. (Baribeau) Barnes, 77, of Baystate Place in Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center after being stricken at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving husband, Harold. She was born in Springfield on December 4, 1935, a daughter of the late Romeo and Mildred (Mareski) Baribeau. She was raised in Springfield, graduated in 1951 from Saint Francis High School, and lived in the city for most of her life. She was a communicant of the former Saint Joseph Church in Springfield. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving son, Richard H. Barnes, who was Called Home on March 13, 1997. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend of 58 years, Harold W. B. Barnes; her loving children, Gordon W. Barnes of Feeding Hills, Harold W. B. Barnes, Jr. and his wife, Esther, of San Lorenzo, CA, Mark A. Barnes and his wife, Laura, of Springfield, Anita M. Servantez and her husband, Phillip, of Somers, CT and Wayne B. Barnes and his wife, Tamara, of Chicopee; her 16 cherished grandchildren; her 11 cherished great-grandchildren; her dear sister, Beverly Burek, and her husband, Joseph, of Westfield; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, March 25, 2013, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129.
