SALEM- Euline G. (Prescod) Hill, 92, of Salem, wife of the late Albert C. Hill, Sr., and daughter of the late Jeremiah M. and Aletha V. (Alleyne) Prescod, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the Abbott House Nursing Home in Lynn.
Born in and raised in Cambridge, and a 1932 graduate of Cambridge High & Latin School, she was a resident of Salem since the middle 1930's.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the City of Salem as a dietician at the former chronic disease hospital at the Salem Willows. In her retirement years, she worked in the convent at the Immaculate Conception Church and later at the Women’s Friend Society, both in Salem.
Mrs. Hill was a communicant of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Salem, where she was a charter member of the Girls Friendly Society, and directed the Bean Suppers held at the church for many years. She was a member of the Women’s Friend Society and the Ward One Senior Citizens, Salem.
Enjoyment and celebration of family was a significant part of Euline’s life in addition to her other favorite pastimes of knitting and crocheting gifts for family members and friends as well as watching all sporting events, especially baseball, basketball, football and golf.
She is survived by six children, three daughters, Natalie S. O’Neil, Cynthia A. Sport and Aletha B. Hill all of Salem, three sons, Sinclair L. Hill and his wife Gloria of Summerlin, Nevada, Albert C. Hill Jr. and his wife Ruby of Salem, and Lorenza E. Hill Sr. and his wife Christine of Salem, 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a dear sister-in-law Margaret Hill of Salem, and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her only sibling, Enid L. McCoy.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004, at 11 am at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, from 4 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
