Irene C. Colachico, of Norton and former longtime resident of Woburn peacefully passed away on March 15th, at the Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston following a short illness. She was 85. Irene was the beloved wife of Arthur W. Colachico and together they shared nearly 64 years of marriage. Born in Salem, MA Irene was the daughter of the late Armand J. and Genevieve (Klowsowski) Jean.
Irene worked for many years as a nurse’s aid and occupational therapist at several area health care facilities including the Woburn Nursing Center, Fairlawn Nursing Home and the New England Rehabilitation. Mostly devoted to her loving family, Irene took great pleasure in entertaining and cooking for her family. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and always made sure her home was a warm and welcoming place for her family. As well as being a wonderful cook, Irene was also a very talented artist working with mostly water colors. She loved animals of all types and was a big fan of John Wayne.
Along with her husband, Irene is survived by her children, Nancy Makarowski and her husband Miles of Atkinson, NH, Susan Davis and her husband Michael of Attleboro, and Carole Robinson and her husband Dwight of Dracut. She was the loving grandmother of Kurt, Meagan and Neal Robinson, Jacqueline Emond, Genevieve Donahue, and Alex Makarowski. Loving great grandmother of Harrison, Jack, Lucy, Abigail and Benjamin. Sister of the late Dorothy Harrington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather Thursday morning, March 21st, at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St., Woburn for an hour of visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Irene's memory to St. Charles Church Restoration Fund, 280 Main St., Woburn, MA 0180.
