METHUEN – Donald L. Sylvia, 74 of Methuen passed away Thursday March 14, 2013 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born and educated in Nantucket, MA, he was the son of Manuel and Catherine Sylvia, and graduated from Nantucket High School with the Class of 1956. He served in the U.S. Airforce and was honorably discharged from service.
After graduating from Merrimack Collage with an associates degree Don for many years worked at Raytheon in Burlington MA as a Tech Writer prior to retirement. In his free time Don enjoyed hunting, reading, making rubber stamps, going to Hampton and Rye beach with his wife Barbara, but most of all spending time with his entire family. He was also a member of the Pelham Rod and Gun Club and a long time member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Barbara (Broadhurst) Sylvia. Don is also survived by his daughter Carolyn Giroux and her companion Ron Arsenault of Newton NH, and his son Mark Sylvia and his wife Karen of Methuen, four grandchildren Courtney Giroux, Ashley Giroux, Alexander Sylvia, Gabrielle Sylvia, a great grandson Ryan Forgue and many nieces and nephews. He was also pre deceased by a granddaughter Michele Giroux.
