Obituary


Omer A. Plante Jr. 88, of Pond St, died Monday in the Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Bertha (Figueira) Plante. Mr. Plante was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Omer A. Plante and Rina (Frappier) Plante, and was a Woonsocket resident all of his life. He was a WWII Army Air Corp veteran and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Mr. Plante was a truck driver for Electric Maintenance for eleven years, and was a head custodian for the Woonsocket School Dept. for thirteen years before retiring in 1984. He was active in the VFW and was a Past Commander of Post 11519.
He is survived by four sons; William Plante of MI, Wayne Plante of Providence, Kenneth Plante of Gloucester, and Patrick Plante of Woonsocket, and one daughter Linda Auger of Safety Harbor, FL. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, and a sister, Rita Plante of South County. He was also the brother of the late William Plante.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours will be Sunday, 2-4PM.
