Mr. Vito W. Bertolino, age 90, died Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston, after a lengthy illness. Born in East Boston, Vito has been a Woburn resident since 1977. He was the devoted son of the late Antonette (Rallo) & Baldassare Bertolino.
Vito was raised in East Boston and it’s where he attended school. He worked with his father and brothers in the family business, as commercial fishermen, on their boat, "St. Francis". He joined the US Navy in 1941 and proudly served in World War II and the Korean conflict. Returning home in 1952, Vito became a plumber.
An extremely charitable man, Vito donated generously to many different causes, Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Perkins School for the Blind, Children's Hospital and the Arthritis Foundation, to name a few. Vito was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends, anyone in need. He was a member of the Woburn Elks club and never missed an opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee with his close friends and neighbors.
Vito was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy E. (Dyer). Brother of the late Rose Magnolia, Anthony, Lawrence, Angelo, Pauline and Joseph Bertolino. Loving Uncle of William Bertolino of Woburn, Janet Bertolino of Revere and the late Annette Gorvin. Also survived by many loving great nieces, great nephews and many other loving family members.
Visiting hours will be held at the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. WOBURN, Saturday, March 16th from 3 thru 7 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Interment will be private.
