METHUEN – Robert “Bob” McCarthy, 78 of Methuen passed away Sunday March 10, 2013 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill with family by his side.
Born and educated in Methuen, MA, he was the son of George and Margaret (McGovern) McCarthy. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged from service. For more than 20 years Bob was a captain with the Methuen Police Department. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Methuen.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Sandra (Heath) McCarthy and also four sisters and five brothers, and is survived by his daughter Robin C. Psaros and her husband Mark E. of Methuen, MA.
Grandchildren Ross Brierley and Amanda Psaros both of Methuen, MA.
Bob also leaves his good friend Betty Cronin and several nieces and nephews.
