Halifax – Margaret L. (Waterman) Cunningham 83, a lifelong resident of Halifax died Monday March 11, in the arms of her daughter Debbie, after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert M. Cunningham.
Born and raised in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Chester and Amy (Baker) Waterman and a graduate of Whitman High School.
For many years Margaret had served as an Assistant Troup Leader for Girl Scout Troop #222 of Halifax.
She enjoyed “couponing” and creating desserts that she generously shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving daughters Jo-Ann Andrews and her husband Gordon and Debra L. Rogers and her husband Stephen all of Halifax, her brother Robert Waterman of Halifax and her brother-in-law Walter R. Cunningham of SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicole Fernandes of Plymouth, Gordon Andrews and his wife Colleen, Jessica Andrews, Michael Rogers, Dennis Rogers, Joseph M. Garuti, Jr., and Sarah Garuti, all of Halifax and Jason Rogers of Austin, TX; her great grandchildren Kaitlyn Andrews and Tyler and Emily Rogers as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Shirley Garuti and sister of the late Elmer, Cliff, Richard, Russell, Earl and Lester Waterman.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday March 16 at 11 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Friday March 15 from 5-8 PM.
