James F. Dee, of New Bedford died March 11, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Evelyn M. (Saccocia) Dee.
Born and raised in Bridgewater, the son of the late Michael J. and Rose (O'Donnell) Dee, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Dee was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
He was formerly employed by Morse Twist Drill for many years until his retirement as comptroller and chief financial officer.
Mr. Dee served in the Pacific Theater as a Quarter Master First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the New Bedford Country Club for 45 years.
Survivors include his 4 children, Janet M. Hammel and her husband Bradford of Somerset, James P. Dee and his wife Karen of New Bedford, Jane E. Dee and her husband Mark Guthrie of Chester, CT and Michael J. Dee and his wife Janet of Annapolis, MD; his beloved grandsons, James Michael Dee, Jonathan Dee, Jack Guthrie and Michael James Dee; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Rose Kelly.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday, March 14th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 13th from 4-8 PM.
