Vernon L. Simpson, a 3 year resident of Woburn and former 22 year resident of Stoneham, entered into eternal life suddenly on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was 69 years old.
Vernon was born in Cambridge on January 28, 1944, a son of the late Vernon A. Simpson and Ruby M. (Lyons) Simpson. He grew up in Somerville where he attended Somerville Public Schools and graduated from Somerville Trade High School in 1961. Vernon worked in the meat processing industry for several years. He enjoyed his motor homes and limousines, his St. Bernard dogs; king and queen, antique cars and most of all his love of family and friends.
Vernon is the beloved husband of 49 years to Joanne M. (Camelio) Simpson. He is the devoted father of Christine DelRossi and her husband Steven of Dracut, Suzanne Blackwell and her fiance Joseph D'Arrigo of Westford, Mark Simpson and his fiance Lisa Seamans of Dracut, Karen Price and James of New Hampshire and Michelle Sweeney and her husband Paul of Dracut. He is the loving Papa to Danielle, Nicole, Ryan, Cameron, David, Katelyn, Kelsey, Corey, Abi and Paul. He is the beloved brother of Carol Scott of Tewksbury. He is also survived by many other family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Vernon's Funeral on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 8:45 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 A.M. Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
