GILMANTON – Dorcas R. Butt, 86, of 24 Musket Trail, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.
She was born in Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of Alfred and Edith Riddle. Dorcas lived in Gilmanton for 20 years, prior to which she lived in Massachusetts. She wintered for 23 years in Palm Harbor, Florida, where she made many friends and enjoyed long walks. Dorcas enjoyed shopping and was known as a person who loved to help others.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Fitzgerald of Gilmanton, two grandchildren; Jeff Fitzgerald of Northfield and Lori Fitzgerald of Belmont and one great grandchild, Zachary Thompson of Belmont. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Butt, one brother, Joseph Riddle, two sisters; Violet Drover and Miriam Riddle and one son-in-law, Paul Fitzgerald in 2012.
Calling hours will be held from 12 Noon to 1PM on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Gilmanton Community Church, Gilmanton Corners location, Rte 107 & Rte 140 Gilmanton, NH. A funeral service will be held at 1PM also at the church with a reception to follow. Burial will be private.
