Elizabete “Liz” (Martins) Moriarty, age 32, passed away on March 1, 2013 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 6, 1980 in Springfield. Liz worked as a mental health care counselor for the West Central Family Counseling Center. She leaves her husband Sam R. Moriarty of Chicopee; her parents Manuel and Maria (Ferreira) Martins of Springfield; her brother Paulo Martins and his wife Venus of Enfield, CT; her mother-in-law, Linda Moriarty of Hampden; brother-in-law John Moriarty of Hampden; 2 sisters-in-law, Kay O’Dwyer and her husband Rob of Winthrop, MA and Rose Moriarty of East Boston; her godmother Dalia Rosario and her husband Luis of Chicopee; her Aunt Maria Saramago of Springfield; her three closest uncles, Tony Ferreira of Ludlow, Joe Ferreira of Chicopee and Antonio Martins of Ludlow. She also leaves her niece Gemma, her nephew Ronan and many other aunts, uncles and cousins local and in Portugal. She is predeceased by her father-in-law Richard Moriarty. Liz graduated from Elms College and continued to achieve a Masters Degree from Cambridge College. She loved to read, listen to music, cook, bake and spend time with family, especially children. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at the Baystate ICU Unit for the special care and support they have shown to Liz and her family during her stay. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 5, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the Grise Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church (104 Springfield St) at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
