Worcester – Marion E. (DiMarzio) Mandel, 69, of Worcester, died on Wednesday, February 27th from injuries sustained in pedestrian accident on Lincoln Street.
Marion is survived by her two daughters, Betty McKinnon of Whitinsville and Lisa Thompson of Charlton; a son, William Mandel of North Brookfield; a brother Albert DiMarzio of Worcester; a sister Antoinette Langner of Wakefield, MA; two close friends, Doris Sargent and Bridget McKinnon both of Worcester; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Achille and Mary (Latino) DiMarzio and is also predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth DanDuran and two brothers, Michael and Achille “Kelly” DiMarzio.
Marion was a true “People Person”, it was her nature to help anyone that may have needed any assistance. She has lived in the Lincoln Street neighborhood for 45 years and was well known to all, Marion truly was a neighborhood icon that will be missed by all.
She was a member of Our Lady of Providence Parish. Marion loved to spend time caring for children and she enjoyed taking shopping trips with her granddaughter. She had a special love for cats, Marion would unconditionally care for them, whether they were hers or strays from the neighborhood.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 6th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 11 AM in St. Bernard’s Church 228 Lincoln St. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, March 5th from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
