Worcester - Mr. Louis R. Belsito, 87, passed away Thursday February, 28th at the Christopher House.
Lou is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Rose (Lucivero) Belsito of Worcester, two daughters, Kathy Belsito and her fiance Bart Lasky of Worcester, Karen Cangello and her husband Peter of Worcester, and a son, John Belsito and his wife Marybeth of New York City, six grandchildren, George Belsito and his wife Meg, Nicholas and Gianna Cangello, Matthew, Katherine and Elizabeth Belsito, two great grandchildren, Molly and Thomas Belsito; one brother, Albert Belsito and his wife Theresa of Worcester, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lou was pre-deceased by his siblings, Peter, Joseph, Mary Mello, Kay DiLiddo, and Gloria Kitt.
Lou was born January 29, 1926 in Worcester, Massachusetts a son of the late Salvatore and Caterina (Cappabianca) Belsito.
A lifelong resident of Worcester, Lou graduated from Worcester Vocational Tech and served his country in the Navy during World War II. He fought in the Battle of Mindoro
and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Metal.
He worked for many years at NYPRO in Clinton and retired as a tools engineer.
Lou was an avid golfer and a past President of the East Side Golf Association and a member of Green Hill Golf Course for more than sixty years. When not golfing, you could find Lou at Belsito’s Deli.
He was a founding member of the Columbus Civic Association.
His funeral will be held Monday March 4th at FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch Street, Worcester, Ma. with a Funeral Mass at 10a.m. at Our Lady of Mt Carmel –St Ann Church of Worcester. Burial will be in St John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, March 3rd from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
