Ernest J. Durand Sr., 81, of Manchester, died February 27, 2013 at his residence after a long illness.
He was born in Manchester on May 26, 1931 to Armand and Delia (Beland) Durand. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Durand was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years.
The family includes his wife of 58 years, Claire I. (Morin) Durand of Manchester; five children, Marie Guy and her husband, Paul, of Haverhill, MA, Donna Naud of Florida, Ernest J. Durand Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Manchester, Diane Corcoran and her husband, David, of Dunbarton and John Durand and his wife, Ruthie, of Hooksett; 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three siblings, Oscar Durand, William Durand and Sr. Marian Durand.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. Pius X Church, corner of Candia Road and Sarto Street in Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
