In Taunton, February 26, 2013 Joseph J. Panit husband of Joan (Varzinskas) Panit died at Morton Hospital in Taunton at the age of 89. Born in Boston and a graduate of Boston English High School, Joseph was the son of the late Michael and Ester (Ansite) Panit. Joseph was in the US Army serving during WWII. He was a retired clerk for the US Postal Service in Boston. Joseph was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Taunton, St Vincent DePaul in Taunton and was the former manager of the St Peter's Drill Team in Dorchester. Joseph was the father of Pat Phelan and her husband Jim of Brockton, Janet Lacey and her husband Kevin of Braintree, Betty Cunningham of Niantic, CT and Barbara Hanson of Weymouth. Grandfather of ten and eighteen great grandchildren. Father in-law of Paul Hanson of Taunton. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Monday, March 4th at 9 AM. A Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church in Taunton at 10 AM. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 PM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
