Obituary

Paul G. Shaughnessy, 78, passed away in his home on February 25, 2013. He was the husband of Alice (LaFreniere) Shaughnessy with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Revere on May 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Thomas and Helen (Murphy) Shaughnessy. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Paul was employed with the Boston Herald for many years as a Pressman. He was also the Chairman of the Pressman’s Union.
Besides his wife Alice, he is survived by five children, Thomas Shaughnessy and his wife Kathy of Daytona Beach, FL, Erin Mitchell and her husband Robert of Peabody, Paul Shaughnessy, Jr. of S. Boston, Patrick Shaughnessy and his wife Linda of Medford and Kerry Normand and her husband Daniel of Beverly, six grandchildren, Thomas, Kasey, Liam, Grace, Remy and Lane, a sister Helen Shea of Revere and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four siblings, Joseph, Mary, Thomas and Gerald.
Pauls’ family would like to thank Hospice of the North Shore and Judy, Michelle and Muriel for the special care that they gave to him.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Saturday, March 2, 2013 in St. Agnes Church, 22 Boston St., Middleton. Paul’s family will receive friends and family on Friday from 4-8pm at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Paul’s name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
