Miss Cleghorn was born October 6, 1944 in Irwin County to the late Avery and Essie Mardell Parks Cleghorn. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Southside Baptist Church where she served as an organist for a few years. She loved Southern gospel music and was an avid witness for her Savior. She enjoyed making silk flower arrangements and acrylic painting, especially roses and lighthouses, for which she won several ribbons and awards. She lived in the Warner Robins and Macon area most of her life. She retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base in 1991 where she was a procurement clerk, following neuro surgery and radiation for a spinal cord tumor. She was a member of the Warner Robins Art Association and a former organ player for the gospel quartet The Crusaders.

Miss Cleghorn was lovingly cared for by the staff and employees of Church Home Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Ft. Valley, where she had been a resident for the past 19 years. There, she met and made friends with many residents and their family members and was an inspiration to all with her cheerful attitude and outgoing personality. The family gratefully acknowledges Dr. Steven Wilson who faithfully treated her at the Church Home.

She is survived by two sisters: Wynell C. (Bob) Oliver of Warner Robins and Martha Fletcher of Chula; four brothers: Ave Cleghorn, Jr. of Brunswick, Frank (Jean) Cleghorn of Albany, Edward (Mity) Cleghorn of Richmond Hill, and Sam (Lee Ann) Cleghorn of Ray City as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother: Jessie Daniel (Mildred) Cleghorn and five sisters: Nancy Cleghorn (Sam) Tribble, Ruby Cleghorn (Joe) Hall, Dora Cleghorn (Clinton) Hall, Mary Cleghorn (Felton) Harper, and Lucile Cleghorn (Troy) Neisler; and a brother-in-law: Melvin Fletcher.

The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to Church Home Rehabilitation and Healthcare, 2470 Highway 41, Ft. Valley, GA 31030.
