Fall River – Albert E. Lees, Jr., 75, of Westport died after a brief illness on July 19, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Florence N. (Grundy) Lees.
Mr. Lees was born in Westport, son of the late Albert E. and Elizabeth A. (Bowers) Lees, and a lifelong resident of Westport. He was a member of the Westport Point United Methodist Church, Westport. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was the founder of Lees Supermarket, Westport in 1949 and has been the owner/operator since. He was a member of Noquochoke Lodge A.F. & A.M., Westport; the Food Marketing Institute, Washington, D.C.; and the Coca-Cola President’s Advisory Board.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter: Janice B. Lees; a son: Albert E. Lees III; a brother: Carlton A. Lees of Westport; and several nieces & nephews.
He was brother of the late Robert J. Lees.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
Calling hours Wednesday, 4-8 P.M.
Masonic service, under the direction of the Noquochoke Lodge A.F. & A.M., will be held Wednesday at 7:30 P.M.
