TEWKSBURY: Muriel L. (Pfau) Poirier, age 81, a long-time resident of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully at D'Youville Senior Care on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
She was the beloved wife of Richard E. Poirier, who passed away on November 4, 2012.
Born in Boston on March 3, 1931, she was the devoted daughter of the late John J. Pfau, Jr. and the late Helen (Thompson) Pfau.
Muriel was raised in West Roxbury and attended Boston schools.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Hostess at the former Banqueteer Restaurant in Chelmsford.
Muriel enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, trips to the beach, crocheting, knitting, gardening and shopping.
She is survived by three children, Richard R. Poirier and his partner in life, Richard E. Riedel of Hollywood, FL, Cheryl A. Witham and her husband Stephen of Tewksbury and Carol G. Moriarty and her husband Timothy of Chelmsford; seven grandchildren, Caitlin E. (Witham) Heatwole and her husband John, Sara E. (Poirier) Correa and her husband Christian, Jillian L. Witham, Molly C. (Poirier) Berlin and her husband Ashley, Stephen T. Witham, Jr., Timothy P. Moriarty, Jr., and Hannah K. Moriarty; three great grandchildren, Addison and Elizabeth Heatwole, and Martin F. Berlin; one brother, Robert T. Pfau and his wife Ann of Englewood, FL; also many nieces and nephews.
Muriel was also the sister of the late J. Frederick Pfau, III.
Calling hours are Thursday, Feb. 28, from 3-7 p.m., in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the D'Youville Senior Care Foundation, 981 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854 or to the Greater Lowell V.N.A.-Hospice, 336 Central St., Lowell, MA 01852.
