Robert D. Perry, 91, of Derry, NH died Sunday February 24, 2013 at his residence, after a period of declining health. He was born in Manchester, February 26, 1921 the son of Roland and Lourene (Marshall) Perry. He graduated from Pinkerton Academy, class of 1941. He and his wife had run a small poultry farm and ran Rocky Knoll Greenhouse. He was a poultry inspector for the State of NH, and later worked as a driver/salesman in the snack food industry.
Mr. Perry served in the US Army during WWII, as a landing craft instructor. He was a 40 year member of the Masonic Temple, St. Marks Lodge #44 of Derry, and a 40 year member of the Bektash Shrine of Concord, as well as a charter member of the Bektash Legion of Honor. He enjoyed gardening and visiting with his large family.
Members of the family include three sons, Robert D. and his wife Jeanne Perry, of Asheville, NC, Richard Perry and his wife Linda of Derry, and Ronald Perry also of Derry, two daughters, Constance A. Partington and her husband Alan of Northfield, NH, and Carol Doucette and her husband William of Old Orchard Beach, ME. He had 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 6 great- great grandchildren, and one sister, Patricia Johnson of Gilford, NH. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Wanda (Dixon) Perry.
Following cremation, calling hours were held from 12 – 2pm Saturday March 2, 2013 at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A Masonic Service began at 1:45 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Bektash Shrine, PO Box 4086, Concord, NH 03302.
