Bruce “Chip” Metts
AUGUSTA, Ga---Mr. Alvin Bruce “Chip” Metts, 59, beloved husband of Kate Cooper Metts, died Thursday, February 21, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jim Higgins and the Rev. Alan Smith officiating. Interment will follow later at Garber United Methodist Church, New Bern, N.C.
He was born in Augusta and was the only child of the late Betty Walker Metts and Roy Lake Metts. He was a graduate of North Augusta High School and Augusta College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a concentration in accounting. He was a Certified Public Accountant. He worked for Morris Communications Corporation as a corporate accountant from 1985 to 2010 when he left due to health reasons.
He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed quail hunting and fishing. He had a great sense of humor, had true affection for his pets, and loved spending time with his family, especially his children.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Nicholas Walker Metts and his fiancée, Samantha Wellner, of Charlotte; a daughter, Lindsey Paige Metts and her fiancé, Benjamin King, also of Charlotte, and Cooper Lake Metts of the home; mother in-law Catherine Cooper, New Bern, N.C.; and sister in-law Jennifer Cooper, Raleigh, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Platt’s Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue.
