WORCESTER___Eugene A. "Uncle Nini" Gervais, 86, of 12 Caroline St., died Monday July 19 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Hester M. (Rose) Gervais; a daughter, Nancy M. Gervais; a sister, Rita J. Gervais both of Worcester; nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces. A sister, Aline B. Minardi died Oct. 31, 1999. He was born in Worcester, son of Eugene G. and Florida (Mathieu) Gervais and lived here all his life.
Mr. Gervais was a typewriter repairman many years for Narcus Brothers and retired several years ago. Before then he worked for the Royal Typewriter Co. After retiring, Gene operated his own typewriter repair service for many years. He was also a limousine driver for Joey’s Limousine Service and was a funeral home attendant for several area funeral homes including Dirsa - Morin Funeral Home, Henry - Dirsa Funeral Service and the former Dirsa-Kazlauskas Funeral Home. He also worked for Athy Memorial Home, the former John Fay Funeral Home, Rogan Funeral Home and Carroll Funeral Home.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Gervais was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and its St. Vincent de Paul Society and he was also a longtime usher and collector there.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday July 21 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 35 Hamilton St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
