Carolyn (Terry) Miller, 74, of New Bedford died Monday February 18, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was the wife of Wilbert Miller.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Baker) McCoy, she lived in New Bedford for many years.
She was a member of For His Glory Christian Assembly. She was a former member of the Union Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess and superintendent of the Sunday School.
Mrs. Miller was formerly employed by the Acushnet Company.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Sarah Avery of Birmingham, and Willis Pierce and Suzanne Pierce Lastic, both of New Bedford; her stepchildren, Wilbert Miller, Jr. of New York, Marlene Johnson of New Jersey, and Ramona Miller of Atlanta; her siblings, Joseph McCoy, Charles Curry, and Eveline Moore, all of Birmingham, Olivia Dickinson of California, and Ernestine Platt of New Bedford; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Minnie Moody, Marie McCoy, Rufus McCoy, Johnny Terry, and Andrew McCoy.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 6-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
