HAVERHILL: Lillian V. (Williams) Smith, 98, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Merrimack Valley Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert Charles “Dick” Smith with whom she shared forty - seven years of marriage.
Born in Exeter, New Hampshire on November 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Lora E. (Page) Williams Cate. She attended Exeter schools, Robinson Female Seminary and McIntosh Business College in Haverhill. Lillian was employed as a tester for Lucent Technologies in North Andover for twenty-nine years. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Haverhill.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sondra O. and Richard D. O’Neil; a son, Charles R. Smith all of Haverhill; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Downing of Manchester, NH; a brother, Carlos Cate of Dover, NH; a daughter-in-law, Betty Donahue of Methuen. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Michael D. O’Neil.
Services for Lillian will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours.
