Alfred P. "Al" Charbonier, a 47 year resident of Melrose and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 71 years old.
Al was born in Boston on December 22, 1941, a son of the late William Charbonier and Mary (Capithorn) Charbonier. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended the Boston Public School system. Al was a truck driver for Ryder-P.I.E. Trucking Company and was a member of Teamsters Union Local # 25 for over 44 years.
Al is the beloved husband of the late Elaine D. (McLaughlin) Charbonier. He is the devoted father of Michele Charbonier and her husband John "Jackie" Hicks of Winchester, and Kevin Charbonier of Melrose. He is the loving Gramps to Stephen II, Madison and Shane Mazzola and Angel Bagnell-Charbonier. He is the brother-in-law of William and Rosemarie McLaughlin of Wakefield and uncle of Cheryl Landry and William McLaughlin III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Al's Funeral Service on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 10 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Visiting hours Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
