CHICOPEE – Joan B. (Tatro) Bennett, 78, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 21, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on October 17, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Paul O. and Doris (Foisy) Tatro. She was raised in Springfield and later moved to West Springfield before moving to Chicopee in 1981. Joan was an avid bingo player and enjoyed meeting her many friends at all the local area bingo games. Joan and her late husband, Earl, were avid campers for many years at the Sunsetview Farm Campground in Monson. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Earl D. Bennett who was Called Home on December 26, 2002. They were married on November 10, 1956 at Saint Michael’s Cathedral in Springfield and were blessed with over 46 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving sons, Daniel H. Bennett of Westfield and David W. Bennett of Chicopee; her two cherished grandchildren, Daniel F. Bennett and his wife, Jamie, of Brattleboro, VT and Christopher E. Bennett and his fiancée, Lindsey, of Greenfield; her dear sister, Rose Emerson of Agawam; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
