Carney B. Black, 83, of Clarksville, TN, died on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Centennial Medical Center. He was born on April 2, 1929 in Montgomery County, Tennessee to the late Huey Black and Annie Baggett Black.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Richard Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. and Sunday, February 24, 2013 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Carney was a truck driver for the City of Clarksville. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Black of Clarksville, TN; son, Ronald (Emma) Black of Clarksville, TN; four daughters, Delores (Raymond) Hood of Rector, AK, Deborah Sampson of Clarksville, TN, Mona (Jim) McMillon of Paragould, AK, and Sherry (David) Hensley of Marmaduke, AK; brother, Clay (Frances) Black of Palmyra, TN; two sisters, Elnora (Danny) Long of Marion, IL and Hazel (Howard) Johnson, Jr. of Clarksville, TN; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Duwayne Black, Jesse Francis, James Groves, Nathan Hobbs, Jr., Jim McMillon, and Ted Rye.
