Margaret M. Drouin, 78, of Derry, NH passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 19, 1934 in Portsmouth, NH, a daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Grimes) O’Connor. Mrs. Drouin graduated from Portsmouth High School, Class of 1952 and received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1956 from the University of New Hampshire. She met her husband Ed at UNH. They married in 1957 and were married for over 50 years when Ed passed away in 2009. Together they enjoyed travelling and had visited all 50 US States, Canada and Europe. She lived in Derry since 1959. Before her retirement, she worked for many years in the Londonderry School District Superintendent’s Office. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she enjoyed having a very special group of friends.
She is survived by her son, David M. Drouin and his wife Cara of Milpitas, CA, one daughter, Diane M. Walton and her husband Michael of Durham, NC, three grandchildren, Joseph Drouin of Milpitas, CA, and Justin and Jared Poe of Durham, NC, a sister-in-law, Elaine Bernier of Dover, NH, and close friends Joe, Janice and Justin Cuff all of Marshfield, MA and Jillian Prieur of Del Ray Beach, FL.
There are no calling hours. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday February 25, 2013 at 10:00am in Holy Cross Church, Derry, NH with cremation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Church Music Ministry, 187 Hampstead Rd., Derry, NH 03038. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling arrangements.
