Obit Armand L. Demers
Manchester– Armand L. Demers, 95, of Manchester passed away at Elliot Hospital on February 19, 2013
He was born in Manchester on May 6, 1917 the son of Leonard and Euphrasie (Roullier) Demers.
Mr. Demers attended St. Augustine School and graduated from St. Joseph High School. Soon after, he married the love of his life, Germaine (Coll) Demers in 1939.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He was employed as a meat cutter/ manager at Grand Union Champagne. Upon his retirement he worked part-time at LeBlanc’s Hardware. He enjoyed 20 blissful years of winters in Florida. He was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. He also held membership in the Catholic War Veterans Post 1842 of St. Anthony Parish. He had a passion for ballroom dancing, music and also took pleasure in shuffleboard, playing darts and attending many musicals. He always looked forward to spending time with family and friends. He was very good hearted, very giving and touched so many people’s lives and has kept in touch with them all these years.
He was able to participate in the Honor Guard Flight in Washington, DC. at the age of 92 with is niece Lorraine Labore as his escort.
He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Germaine Demers on May 15, 1981.
He is survived by his niece and nephew, Lorraine and Larry Labore who were his caretakers, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews. He also leaves a sister in law Rita Beaule and cousin Rachel Parenteau.
While at Villa Crest he participated in many of the activities with much enthusiasm and enjoyed his stay there. We want to thank the staff at Villa Crest for the special care that was given to him. He will truly be missed by all.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 6 pm at the J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 am in St. Anthony Church. Burial will be in St. Augustin Cemetery.
