Obituary

CHICOPEE – Louise A. (Pope) Syriac, 64, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Northampton on December 3, 1948, a beloved daughter of the late Donald A. and Alberta (Sherman) Pope. She was raised in Northampton, graduated in 1966 from Northampton High School and lived in the city for many years before moving to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1979. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Dennis C. Syriac. They were married on September 9, 1967 at the former Saint John Cantius Church in Northampton and were blessed with over 45 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving sons, Michael Syriac and John Syriac, both of Chicopee; her three cherished grandchildren, Roy Syriac and his companion, Bianca Ligus, of Northampton, Ashley Syriac and Dennis B. Syriac, both of Chicopee; and several dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her dear sister, Bonnie Mulrooney, and her dear brother, Fred Blair. Her relatives and friends and invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning, February 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Knights of Columbus Fairview Council 4044 Scholarship Fund, 1599 Memorial Drive, Chicopee, MA 01020.
