Charles E. Conrad, passed to his Heavenly life after a long struggle with Alzheimer's on Wed. 12:a.m.
Born February 11, 1924 - Son of Harold and Vern (Stinson) Conrad of Lapel. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1942. He married his High School Sweetheart, June Heiny in 1944.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June (Heiny) Conrad, parents, siblings, Louise Hutton, Loris Conrad, Montrue Williams, George Conrad, Mary Wilson, William Conrad, Don Conrad.
He is survived by his four children, David (Karen Coffey) Conrad of Anderson; Dale (Carolyn Stanley) Conrad of Alexandria, Jill (Henry) Branscum of Anderson and Anita (Ed) Blankenship of Alexandria; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Taylor of Russiaville, Dallas (Cassie Lindner) Conrad; Julie Prichard; Kimberly (Curt) Head; Ben Blankenship; Adam Blankenship all of Alexandria; six great grandchildren, Alex & Lee Taylor of Russiaville; Alaina; Austin; Ashton and Amelia Conrad of Alexandria; two brothers Robert (Wanda Smith) Conrad of Anderson; Calvin & Pam Kirkendoll) Conrad of Joplin, MO; four step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Charles spent his life farming. He hosted the Anderson Farm City Tour twice. He served Bethany Christian Church as Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, Elder and Church Board Chairman. He attended East Side Church of God and was a member of the BYKOTA Class. He served as a member of the USDA-ASCS Board, Madison County Co-op Director, Highland High School Board, Metro School Board, Richland Township Advisory Board and Madison County Planning Commission. He loved watching basketball and spending his winters in Florida near North Ft. Myers. He enjoyed participating in the sports of volleyball, bicycling and shuffleboard. He also loved to play cards, dominoes and board games with friends and family.
Service will be 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Kent Stookey officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 24 from 2-5 P.M.
