Ret. MSGT E-8 Billy Owens Gattis, 73, of Clarksville, TN, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Clarksville Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on June 6, 1939 in Lynchburg, Tennessee to the late Roy Issac Gattis and Thelma Lorena Owens Gattis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Leon Gattis and sister, Daisy Baker.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Brother Louie Montoya officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. and Friday, February 22, 2013 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Billy was a maintenance technician with Griffy Trucking. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and member of Hilldale Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Sue Gattis of Clarksville, TN; son, Jerry P. Stewart of Clarksville, TN; daughter, Gina Beth Allen of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, R.L. Gattis and Bobby Gattis of Lynchburg, TN; two sisters, Patty Hinkle and Carolyn Gattis of Lynchburg, TN; and four grandchildren, Kathryn Clara Allen, Macy Alana Allen, Jaxon Stewart, and Jakob Stewart.
