Marjorie Frances (Hyde) Skillin, a lifelong resident of Medford, died on Tuesday afternoon, February 19, 2013, at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford. She was 94 years old.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on June 11, 1918, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lester W. and Marjorie M. (Richardson) Hyde. Marjorie graduated from Jackson College now Tufts University. She was a book department manager first for R. H. Whites in Boston and then for Jordan Marsh in Malden for many years. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Medford where she was a very active participant serving in many capacities including Sunday school teacher, Youth group leader and an officer in various church groups. She was a member of the AARP and the Medford Women’s Club. From her childhood, summers found her busy as an officer of many groups in Ocean Park, Maine. She will be remembered for her determination to get things done and her love of books and movies (and John Wayne).
She will be very sorely missed by her loving children; Richard Hyde Skillin of Ocean Park, Maine and Marjorie E. Hey (Su Cô Thích N? Chon Ð?c) of Medford, grandchildren Douglas Skillin, Bruce Skillin, Karen Rojas, David Escott and great-granddaughters Madison Skillin, Caitlyn Skillin and Marisa Ann Rojas. She was also the mother of the late Judith Ann Escott and grandmother of the late Peter Escott.
A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church Medford on Saturday, March 16th at 11 AM and a second one in Ocean Park Maine during the summer.
