AUBURN-Roger H. Walton, 81, of 40 Upland Street, died Saturday July 17th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 59 years Ruth E. (Fairbrother) Walton, 3 sons, Roger H. Walton, Jr. of Worcester, Steven C. Walton of Auburn and Christopher J. Walton of Bourne, 2 daughters, Susan R. wife Thomas Mahoney of Raymond, NH and Amy M. wife of John Pelle of Long Island, NY, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
He was born in Worcester the son of Harvey R. and Agnes (Malley) Walton and attended Worcester Public Schools. Mr. Walton had been an installer and repairman for New England Telephone for 40 years, retiring in 1983. He was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Walton was a founding member of North American Martyrs Church, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and for his love of golf, reading and the Red Sox.
The funeral is Tuesday, July 20th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
