Obituary

WORCESTER-Hector A. Rivera, 22, of 49 Whipple Street, died Friday, July 16th in St. Vincent Hospital from a gunshot wound which occurred late Thursday night while driving a car in front of City Hall. He leaves his parents, Hector and Edna L. (Ramos) Rivera, a son Hector A. Rivera, Jr., a sister Brendaliz Rivera, his maternal grandmother, Adelina Reyes, his girlfriend, Jenilee Cureton, all of Worcester, 5 aunts, Nilda, wife of Antonio Millett of Worcester, Carmen, wife of Ronald Holmes of Leicester, Wanda, wife of Timothy Hornby of Simpsonville, SC, Myrta, wife of Carlo Saavedra and Minerva Rivera, and an uncle, Rafy Rivera all of Puerto Rico and several cousins in MA, FL and Puerto Rico.

He was born in Worcester, graduated from Worcester Vocational Technical School as a mechanic in 2001 and attended Quinsigamond Community College. Mr. Rivera previously worked at National Envelope Company and at Sears during high school. He played for various little league teams in the city, participated in high school sports and was an avid car enthusiast.

The funeral is Wednesday, July 21st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Paul’s Cathedral, 15 Chatham Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 20th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
