Joseph H. Sears, 85, of New Bedford died Sunday February 17, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dorothy G. (Kennedy) Sears; they had been married for 64 years.
Born in Taunton, the son of the late Henry and Theodora (Terra) Sears, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mr. Sears was formerly employed as an oil burner service technician for Glen Oil Company until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
The family would like to thank Hawthorn Oncology Center and Community Nurse and Hospice Care for the loving care shown to Joe during his illness.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Thomas Sears and his wife Roxanne of Florida, Cathy DeSouza of New Bedford, James Sears and his wife Donna of Fall River, and Cheryl Pike and her husband Steven of Dartmouth; a brother, Thomas Sears of Florida; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Edith Sears.
