CHICOPEE – Margaret A. “Marge” (Austin) Mannix, 76, of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 17, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in the Borough of Manhattan in New York City, NY on July 18, 1936, a beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Slevin) Austin. She was raised and schooled in New York and moved to Wilbraham, MA around 1974. She later moved to Attleboro, MA in 1993 and then to Owasso, OK in 2007 before moving to Chicopee in the summer of 2010. She had previously been employed as an office manager and programmer at the former American Bosch Company in Springfield. She was a communicant of Saint Henry Church in Owasso, OK. Her life and love centered around her children and grandchildren whom she adored and showered with her love and affection. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, John J. Mannix, Jr. who was Called Home on September 16, 2007. They were married on August 6, 1955 in Roslyn, NY and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving children, Sarah A. “Sally” Mannix of Owasso, OK, John J. Mannix, III and his wife, Lisa, of North Scituate, RI, Laura L. Wilk and her husband, Peter, of Chicopee and Jean M. Wentz and her husband, Edward, of Stevens, PA; her eight grandchildren who she adored, Caitlin Mannix, Nicole “Nikki” Wilk, Stephen Wilk, Matthew Wilk, Tayler Wentz, Brian Wentz, Joshua Mannix and Jennifer Mannix; her dear brother, Kenneth Austin and his wife, Kay, of Lakewood Ranch, FL; her two dear sisters, Cathy Lavin and her husband, Peter, of Port Saint Lucie, FL and her twin sister, Mary Lake of New York, NY; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning February 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
