William Roy Watkins, Jr., 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Isaac Thomas and Rev. Tom Rash officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 9:00, Saturday evening.
Mr. Watkins was born November 23, 1918, in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late William Roy “Will” Watkins, Sr., and Suzie Inez Dorminy Watkins. He was a former resident of Montgomery, Alabama. Mr. Watkins retired with twenty-two years of service as Chief Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force and he retired from the Civil Service as an Airplane Mechanic. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and a member of the South Georgia Touring Club. Mr. Watkins was a car, truck and motorcycle mechanic for his family and friends.
Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife of 58 years: Margaret Watkins, Fitzgerald; two brothers: Karl Watkins and Julian (Evelyn) Watkins, all of Manchester, GA; two sisters: Emily Barnes, Fitzgerald and Evelyn (Curtis) Hamilton, Bainbridge, GA; sister-in-law: Reba Lee, Fitzgerald; numerous nieces and nephews and four great nieces:Amanda Renfroe, Katie McMahon, Lisa Lee and Lori Cook.
