Carmela (Cucinotta) Magazzu, 82, of Natick, passed away on February 17, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Pietro Magazzu who passed away in 2007 and with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in Caltagirone, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Stefano and Pietrina (Pitella) Cucinotta. She was raised in Italy and immigrated to the United States on May 3, 1970. She settled in Natick and was employed for many years at the New England Pressed Steel Company. She went on to proudly work as a housekeeper at the Leonard Morse Hospital until 1990. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, nothing brought more joy to Mrs. Magazzu’s life than spending time with her beloved family and friends.
Mrs. Magazzu was the devoted mother of Orazio Magazzu and his wife Franca of Natick, Stephen Magazzu and his wife Teresa of Natick, Maria Corbosiero and her husband Paul of Northborough, Josephine Corbosiero and her husband Donald of Northborough, and Pia Magazzu and her companion Frank Mercurio of Natick. She was the cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and the dear sister of Stefano Cucinotta of Natick, Giovanina Mucari of Sicily, and the late Maria D’Angelo of Sicily, Dominic Cucinotta, and Anthony Cucinotta both of Natick. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lilla Cucinotta and Josephine Cucinotta both of Natick and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Magazzu’s funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) Natick on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 9:00 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central St. (Rt. 135) Natick at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 4-8 PM.
