NORTH DARTMOUTH — Nancy [Hawes] Brownhill, 68, born 23 March 1944 in South Dartmouth, MA, died Tuesday, 5 February 2013, at her home in North Dartmouth, MA, after a nine-month battle with leukemia. Nancy died peacefully, with family, friends and faithful dogs by her side.
Nancy was the daughter of the late Jessie May [Tilton] and Harold Eddy Hawes, and the sister of Douglas and David and loving mother to David, Leigh and Jason. She graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1962.
Nancy earned her LPN certification from Diman School of Practical Nursing in 1976. In nearly 40 years of nursing, she specialized in the care of handicapped children and the elderly in home and assisted living settings.
Nancy loved her family, friends and dogs. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, horseback riding, traveling, arts and crafts, amateur theatre and all things in nature.
She will be dearly missed by son, David of Acton, MA, his wife, Melanie, and their sons, Trevor and Owen; daughter, Leigh of Fergus, Ontario and her daughters, Adabu and Hauwa; and son, Jason of Charlestown, MA. Also by brothers, Douglas and David, their spouses, Cynthia and Robin, and many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and fellow travelers.
A Memorial Service will be held 23 February 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Congregational Church, 17 Middle Street, Padanaram
